UEA’s Angel Tree Helps Families in Need this Holiday Season

December 17, 2008

Waverly, IA (December 2008)—United Equipment Accessories, Inc. (UEA) is working with Northeast Iowa Community Action to help families from the Cedar Valley area this holiday season.
UEA contacted several Northeast Iowa Community Action centers to supply local families with gifts during the holidays.
“We wanted to concentrate on communities our employees are from, said Mary Dunn, Human Resources Manager, “we contacted the community action centers in West Union, New Hampton, North Fayette and Waverly.”
After contacting the Community Action Centers, families are contacted to let them know a local business would like to donate gifts to them for the holidays. The family then supplies a gift list that is given to the business.
UEA placed an ‘Angel Tree’ in their office donned with angel ornaments that had gift ideas written on them from the lists supplied by the families. Employees were asked to choose an ornament and place the gift under the tree by December 17th so the gifts could then be distributed in time for the holidays. Gift ideas ranged from cleaning supplies for mothers to action figures for kids.
“I was so impressed with how generous our employees are,” commented Dunn. “We started off donating to 12 families but added three more to make it a total of 15 families.
During previous holiday seasons, United Equipment Accessories has donated to various Cedar Valley Organizations that raise money for those in need during the holidays. Last year, there was a cash donation given to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. They hope to make this years’ Adopt a Family tradition an annual one.
